What makes a teacher great?
When the ball of a pen rolls over the surface of paper, it leaves behind a trail of ink. The trail can take form of a diverse range of words with different meanings which unite to express a broader meaning. It may seem a pretty normal task of daily life but it actually involves a long path of learning, from how to write and what to write.
We are taught by life, people and other beings that are directly or indirectly part of it. It’s a long path which leads to people familiarising themselves to endless list of things in this world and adding more to their ever-expanding skillset.
We come across many teachers in our lives, in different places or moments for different reasons, interacting with us or just showing us a glimpse of learning from afar which evolves into an unforgettable lesson.
What makes a teacher great is his/her understanding of the one being taught or the learner. We all learn in different ways, some of us are quick learners while some of us just need a little bit of a stronger push to get there. It is a very important quality of a teacher to understand that and proceed accordingly with patience, love and kindness.
Teachers carry a great responsibility on their shoulders, at our homes or at our schools and universities and even at our work places. We might have been, are or will be a teacher to someone ourselves in the past, present or future. Understanding is the key which unitedly achieves the goal of both, the one who teaches and the ones who learns.
