What do you listen to while you work?
We all work within our own circumstances, capacities and interests. Work enhances the purpose of our life; it allows us to have a greater satisfaction of our abilities and it wouldn’t be wrong to say it also gives our life a different form of meaning.
Work does not happen just within the walls of an organisation; it happens at every segment of our life. We need to work upon every aspect of life in order to try and have the closest thing to a fulfilling life. Not everyone has to be good at everything but one certainly has to do enough to keep the tyres of life rolling in the right direction.
It is many a times easier said than done, when we are trying do it all to the best of our abilities in order achieve the what we perceive as the most satisfactory outcome for us. Sometimes we just need a splash of something more to keep us going.
I am one of those people who uses music as the means to keep working effectively and efficiently with minimal break in focus. It allows me to limit the mental fatigue up to a limit. I won’t say it always work, sometimes the mind lacks the required amount of calmness to allow music to do its magic, but most of the time it works and, on some occasions, more splendidly than my own expectations.
I have my pair of earbuds and a portable Bluetooth speaker. I keep the time I spend with my earbuds limited and rather prefer to use my speaker wherever I can for my musical interests.
The music I prefer to listen to while working is medium pace ambient music or soft instrumental. They work perfectly for me, they have just the right effect on my mind wherein the music is mildly noticeable but at the same time not distracting. The volume of the music keeps varying with my surrounding, wherein if I need to completely focus and can do so safely, I turn up the volume to the point where it sweeps out all the surrounding noises, but when I need to be aware of my surrounding, I keep the volume down to a slightly noticeable level with the priority being the surrounding.
I would highly recommend people trying music as a supporter for their work and most importantly doing so responsibly.
