Where did your name come from?
Once Rabindranath Tagore has said that how much name really matters? In shesher Kobita but later on in the same extract he explained that names are our identity.
Our name is simple yet not very commonly used when we were born. For me my name was given by my maa when she was pregnant with me. Being an equalist she thought both the names one if she gives birth to a son and another for a daughter. For son selected Sayon and for daughter she selected Sayoni .
It means dusk somewhere a days end and beginning of night hope. It is derived from the word sayannye in Sanskrit meaning dusk and yes both sayoni and sayon are deprived from same Sanskrit word.
Whereas in Bengali it means godhuli Bala means the moment of the time juncture when the cows rubs it’s feet against the ground.
Such is the name history.

Your name in Hindi if I pronounce Sayani सयानी , it will mean Intelligent and as you said in Bengali Sayoni সায়নী means dusk, the Gau Dhuli time!
