What food would you say is your specialty?
It was a late summer night. I was unable to drift out into sleep, so I had decided to drift into the world of a book. My overhead headphones had started to give a feeling of uneasiness to the ears, so I removed them and kept them on a side table. The night was silent, some hours back the passing of a marriage procession had filled the air with beats of drums and some other supporting instruments. They were played quite well but their sound didn’t suit the environment I required for reading the book and that’s where the headphones stepped in accompanied by a playlist of slow ambient music.
I realised suddenly that I was hungry and it was odd because I had consumed a good portion of food at dinner. I debated in my mind about whether it was a good idea to eat something so late and came to the conclusion that maybe a little bit of something might be good, just to please the mind maybe.
I made my way to the cupboard of eatables, there were cookies, chips and some other munchable snacks, packets of dry cakes, and my mind which wanted none of them. I didn’t even consider opening the refrigerator. There were some instant meals for those rushed days when everything in the schedule was getting late. They were a good choice but then my eyes fell on something better, a carton of eggs. That’s it, I was going to have some scrambled eggs.
I love eggs, I believe they are one of the best eatables out there. They can be prepared in a short amount of time; they taste very good and are quite fulfilling to the mind, heart and stomach. There are a variety of egg preparations that can be made but the one I think I can prepare the best is scrambled eggs and there is a reason why.
You see making eggs was my first step out of the world of instant noodles and soups.. something I consider a step toward proper handmade cooking. So, initially I couldn’t make an omelette or a fried egg, I just couldn’t get it right, hence it turned out to be scrambled all the time. Consequently, by the time I learnt to make the other variations properly, scrambled eggs had somehow become my specialty and I think I can make it well enough for people to find it hard to dislike it.
