Confounding Emotions

Tears escaped her eyes and went on their way down. They left a trail of small droplets in their passing. Some of the droplets became part of the tears later. Eventually, they were wiped off with bare hand at first and later with a partially wet handkerchief.

“Why do people fail to understand me? I wish nothing but good for them. Sometimes, I feel I am all alone in this world.”

Was it just her…….? Maybe….. maybe not. This was not the first time that I had heard something like this and she was not the first one to have spoken them for my ears. The lines they may differ in structure and the emotions with which they are spoken, but their paths lead to the same meaning.

“A different approach, a modest one maybe required. Focus on a few, maybe just one, maybe just you. This may bring you closer to the understanding you seek.”

She turned away her face, looked at the retreating sunlight. She didn’t say yes, she didn’t gesture to mean the same. Could her silence be a sign of a new understanding, a new beginning?
