Are you feeling the same?

For a number of reasons, women are less willing than men to negotiate for themselves. From a young age, they are taught to prioritize the needs of others over their own. They haven’t been taught that they should ask for more, unlike men. Many corporate environments discourage modern women who ask questions, further preventing them from doing so, and often branding them as “obnoxious” and “pushy”. However, we believe, armed with the right negotiation skills, more women can convince their employers to promote them, and increase job satisfaction. Here’s some advice for all the women out there!

1. Expect criticism, from both men and women, but remember when we don’t ask our careers to stall!

2. Speak up for yourself! Don’t hesitate to negotiate for your own interest. Criticism is inevitable. Whilst negotiating, remain calm to prevent the situation from escalating.

3. Evidence, Evidence, Evidence! You need a good reason to back up the negotiation with your employer. Make sure to provide legitimate explanations along with it.

Lastly, to all the women out there, remember we’re all in this together; all women struggle with the same hurdles, forming a support system with other women can help!

Be a positive person by supporting women.

  1. Very good points! I am a man and I have noticed for a long long time that women have a lot better social skills than men. When I need something which needs social skills I hire woman. Have a great day!!
