In adulthood we realise that there aren’t many things which we are very excited about. But most of us did have that life when we were a kid with a normal childhood.
There are people who are full of life but our complex adult minds lead us to the thought ‘what is hidden behind all that smiling and spoken words laden with kindness’ especially if the person is doing financially well. Afterall we all have our share of problems, we know that right? but somehow whether we want it or not, we end up thinking that others have it way worse and even their bad would always be the worse.
Without venturing too far from the topic, let me tell, about this person who had a positive impact on me for the better or for the worse.
One day when I was around thirteen, I was playing the game of ‘Tag’ and running at my top speed trying to catch this guy and then he suddenly fell and I tried to jump trying to avoid stepping on him or tripping over him and I became disbalanced and fell.
I did not wake up immediately as I was tired from all the running and then I heard my maternal grandfather’s voice from afar and I got up and he is the one who had a positive impact on life.
You see, there are so many people that we directly or indirectly come across and they manage to impress upon our minds in different ways, but those who truly inspire us or make us learn the deeper meanings of life are very different from that lot.
We may like to be like someone, but how many times do we truly wonder that if their life truly holds the answer we are looking for and that is why there are people who are ‘I thought this would be it, but I feel empty’ of course you do, all that education and you start chasing an image you like without any proper thought behind it.
So, my paternal grandfather, he managed to live a simple, peaceful life and given how chaotic people’s state of mind are nowadays, I know how many people only wish they could have that peaceful part of life. But it does not come easily, in today’s time it is much easier to earn a decent income than it is to find peace. That is what my grandfather managed to do and that is what had a positive impact on me.
My mind is a mess and I consider myself one of those far from normal and not in a good way but once in a while or maybe more often, I have that moment of silence in mind where I can feel the calmness filling up inside and I know this is something I learnt from him and without it who knows what kind of troubled individual I would have become.
