Rainful Mornings

When a working person wakes up on a working weekday. The rain outside can mean a lot of things. It starts with being fifteen more minutes of some light sleep. The air is comfortable and the sound of the rain sings to the ears.

As the time to leave home nears, the mind has already given birth to the thought of maybe enjoying a holiday at home and enjoying home cooked food, but the thought is not strong enough to actually make it happen, because those with responsibilities have different priorities.

Now, this is where the rain stops becoming the pleasant feeling that it was in the morning. The working person wonders if it could just stop for a while, just enough for him/her to get to the bus stop. The rain doesn’t stop but gives a sign of slowing down and that’s when the working person rushes out into the world, a little late, a little worried, quite irritated, smartphone in bag and bag covered with rain cover, an umbrella in hand that barely provides some cover to the upper body, and to add to it the rain regains its strength.

All the precautions of allowing the water to reach the self, flows away with the narrow stream of rain water running on the side of the road.

There is an obvious crowd at the bus stop and in the bus as well. The humidity adds to the discomfort but the mind of the working person stops thinking about them, because life has to be lived with the means it has as they are. Certain discomforts in mind only makes life a bit harder to steer through.

When the working person steps into the office building quite late and a little tired, he/she steps into a world where there are others like him/her who have experienced something of similar nature but with different perspectives. Some looking a little more tired, with some who made it here without much trouble. Somewhere there is a manager who is worried of how that day’s tasks will be managed since they had clearly derailed from schedule and employees were bound to be late or might not come at all.

The experience with the rain starts becoming better with a cup of warm tea/coffee while sitting on the chair and looking at work on the table, regaining composure of not having to move from this establishment for hours together. Now, the rain outside clashing against the sheet of glass regains its peace and calmness and that is how life of many working individuals begins on a working morning with rain.
