Today we are going to talk about the inventions of APJ Abdul Kalam to the world as well as in India.
The first and foremost is Nandhi
It was his first invention for his college project. He made a double engine powered hovercraft and it was completed after a lot of struggle. It flew above one foot with two people.
The second one in our list is Pokhran 2
It consists of five detonations, the first was fusion bomb and the rest were fission bombs. The speciality of Pokhran 2 was that it was tested in ultimate secrecy. The test was a success as the spy satellites and CIA satellites could be avoided.
The third invention is Indigenous Guided Missiles
APJ Abdul Kalam was appointed as the CEO of Integrated Guided Missile Development Program. He was responsible for the development and operation of AGNI and PRITHVI missiles.
The fourth Invention is Kalam Raju Stent
Kalam developed a low cost coronary stent which led to the reduction of prices of imported coronary stents by more than 50 per cent.
The fifth and last invention is Kalam Raju Tablet
This tablet aimed at arming healthcare workers at the primary level to respond to emergency medical situations.
The sixth one is Lightweight Calipers
While India has been declared polio free by the WHO, In 1995 and 1996, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and his team worked hard to produce orthosis calipers that weighed almost 1/10th of the weight of those that were available in the market. These floor reaction calipers made movement and walking less painful for patients with motor disabilities allowing kids to walk more freely and fluidly without much help.
The last and final invention of ABJ Abdul Kalam is Project Devil and Project Valiant
In the 1970s, Kalam also directed two projects, namely, Project Devil and Project Valiant, which sought to develop ballistic missiles from the technology of the successful SLV programme. Despite the disapproval of the Union Cabinet, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi allotted secret funds for these aerospace projects through her discretionary powers under Kalam’s directorship. Kalam played an integral role convincing the Union Cabinet to conceal the true nature of these classified aerospace projects.
