The Good out of the End

There were several questions on Ajay’s mind as he sat with a cup of tea with an expression that had lost any good meaning.

Nithi entered the drawing room carrying a bag and eyes which showed the effects of crying. Maybe she glanced at Ajay on her way out, but that was it and she was gone out the door, out of the lives they had been living in.

Ajay sat still wondering whether he should have stopped her, but it did not matter, there was no going back now.

A relationship, a good one, does not end one fine day, it withers slowly and one knows it and one sees it but not many act before the few last petals remain.

Ajay hadn’t exactly thought how he would live the life from here onwards; the end part had gone by so suddenly. Both had imagined a good settled life after their arranged marriage, but the three months before the marriage were not exactly enough to know everything about each other.

After the first two years, both began to realise the differences that were more than the scope of being acceptable. The push by the families to adjust a little did hold things together for a while, but the while ended and so did everything else.

The decision led to two different lives, easier ones, more acceptable, filled with more warmth. Not all ends define something bad, they also lead to something better.
