Some Days

Describe your most ideal day from beginning to end.

We all have our share of good and bad days, the easiest of them to point out would be Monday when we are full of energy and Friday, when we want the clock to move faster towards the weekend (given that we have not already been handed more work to be done on a weekend). But there is a lot more to push things beyond the realm of simplicity. The mindset with which the days are led, the ability to bring a lazy or tiring mind and body to where they should be and most importantly realising that with each day, although it may not much but a lot of time is passing by, making it worthwhile is what life’s effort is about right?

The start is important for sure. I won’t say it determines how the whole day would go; I can always pull myself back up with a thoughtful cup of tea/coffee. But something like a late start to a day can effectively cause a bit of a jumble in mind and a good start can get you in a position where you know for sure you have got this day where you wanted.

For most working people, like me, most of the day is spent in professional work. At present I am not bound to any office going schedule, I have my own little thing. So, I start early, and work through the day till evenings and sometimes late evenings. I prefer not to work at night and rather have a life beyond just one. So, I go out anywhere, if something needs to be bought, the market, the occasional coffee at a cafe or a healthy long walk. It is important, there is a whole world out there, just being stuck to a desk and chair might look a little sad.

There are days when I wake up and say “no, I am not working today”. Then I simply go wherever the mind and heart takes. Since book fairs and book launches have become part of the professional zone, I will say the last such outing was the zoo. No, I don’t support animals in cages, it’s just that zoos are the places with the most nature in a modern city and I am fond of watching the migratory birds freely stopping by on their journey.

I do wish there was more to life than there is and there can always be with the intended effort. A lot to be seen and done, as day by day we live through this life, for that inspiration to run into something more, trying to feel a bit different for a while, but we know within we are to return to that ideal day because our life doesn’t function without it.
