Mr Patel woke up in the morning at 5:30 like every day. He got ready for his morning walk. He had been more health conscious lately, cutting out fast food from life, even going for a long walk in the evening if possible. Even in office he had allowed himself more breaks. All those hours of continuous sitting are coming for everyone for sure, he truly believed that.
Mr Patel stepped out the apartment door and closed it and that is when he felt it. He was being watched, a pair of eyes looking at him very steadily, intentions unknown. It was one of those moments when your body tells you ‘Something’s definitely not right’.
Mr Patel slowly turned around and looked at the door of the apartment opposite to his. As usual the wooden door was open, the entrance was secured by a grilled door with mesh. It was left like that for better ventilation. There was a light curtain for privacy.
In the early morning when the lights of the drawing room were off the darkness prevailed before the sunlight made its way. The pair of eyes, they appeared to see Mr Patel walk by every day in morning. Mr Patel knew of it, yet every day the fear returned, for that moment still in the imagination of the grilled door slowly opening, and out stepping the pair of eyes with rest of self. What would happen that day?
Mr Patel slowly looked towards the pair of eyes and they stayed where they were. Mr Patel took a brief long breath before walking off not intending to make the confrontation verbal and he did, briefly looking at the still standing Rotweiler.

Wow, Anuran! This is incredibly gripping—your writing builds suspense in such a subtle, chilling way. I could feel Mr. Patel’s unease with every step. Amazing storytelling! 👏📖
