It was the beginning of night. The lights came to life; many lights moved along with the vehicles they were part of. Many minds eased as the day was coming to an end. The vapour from the earthen tea cup was carried away by a light stir in the air. Bhavin stood near the bend of a footpath. He had walked the distance here from the tea stall.
He came here sometimes to reconnect with the memory of him as a child going to the market with his maternal grandmother. Now, she was gone and meanwhile the world had changed as well.
Bhavin had a loving childhood; he had been brought up with good qualities in mind. But somewhere in an attempt to instil kindness during the teenage years, Bhavin’s Bhavin’s confidence got affected without notice of many.
Bhavin smiled more, was hardworking and helpful, but when it came the time to take a step strong in nature, Bhavin faltered. He allowed himself to get dominated by others, his friends, neighbours, colleagues all had formed their mannerism around that fact. He was losing control over his own life.
One fine morning Bhavin woke up and looked out the window at morning sunlight struggling against the clouds, the clouds won and the weather became cloudy. But when Bhavin stepped out of his apartment building for work, he noticed the sunlight present on the road. The sky had cleared.
Life became a bit complicated for the next few days as Bhavin made his way through life with more confidence. People found themselves frustrated over the ‘no’ coming their way and there were those initial arguments. Bhavin even switched to another company to start anew. But, Bhavin knew it would take time; there were still many who could not adjust with the fact of losing the edge over him. But Bhavin went through it all with a smile, he had the sight of the eventual clear sky in mind.

A beautifully reflective piece—gentle yet powerful. I love how Bhavin’s journey mirrors the clearing sky, showing that quiet strength can transform a life. Your storytelling carries warmth, nostalgia, and a hopeful message about self-worth that lingers with the reader. Truly heartfelt writing.
