Yes, I am one of those types of people who go to social media for news. It is like a habit, that includes browsing through the sites of newspapers as well. Social media has the edge in the sense of providing videos and audios related to the news if available, but on the other hand for those who like reading more the newspaper websites are the means.
Well, it’s not a secret that one can persuade a news organisation in different manners to get their news around; this is more prominently prevalent in social media like that news of a less to not popular celebrity who decided to marry someone who might be even lesser known. My wife would probably say something like ‘you noticed, others like you might have as well and that was the objective’, well that’s a long debate.
So, there are many news stories of such nature and it does not take a lot of thought to know they might be those persuaded news. They make you start to wonder whether news organisations have strayed off the path, but I think they are trying to stay afloat with time.
Mostly I avoid such kind of news, but one of them grabbed my attention. It was about a celebrity, this one was popular, once. I honestly tried avoiding it but that celebrity was everywhere with news about his family and other things he was doing in everyday life. It seemed like his news was following me everywhere, yes, I am aware of why that happens in social media.
My problem here was, that the celebrity was a good actor here in the film industry of my country once back when I had time to indulge in movies, but then he went to work in the film industry of another country. Well, it was fine, until he took on this habit of criticising where he worked earlier, quite heavily. But coincidentally his roles didn’t work there and his business ventures also failed and he faded.
One day he was back in the news, back in his older film industry and now he was everywhere with words that sounded and meant the complete opposite of the earlier criticisms. I have stopped commenting on news on social media as I had once become obsessed with this habit, but this one, I smiled and wrote a lot within my skill but out of my character. I hope he never reads it though, poor man.
