I glance at the watch, I glance at the door, outside the window was well for the faintest shadow or sound of my dear special guest.
I go through the libraries of fond memories that wouldn’t have been, had it not been for my special guest.
We laughed, we ate, we talked of the world, developing the bond to something of a wonder. His treasure trove of knowledge never ceased to amaze me. His smile, the spark of eyes never let the darkness tarnish any moment.
I waited with a great yearning to have the feeling to see that smile once more, to hear the words of wisdom in that familiar voice.
Perhaps, had I known, this wait would be a pain, maybe I would have prolonged the moment of our last meeting.
He will never come again I know, and everything I have ever felt would be preserved in my memories as long as my mind can remember them. His picture up on the wall, the smile would remain there forever. Maybe another time, another life, knowingly unknowingly I would be visited by my special guest, once again.

I’m getting whiffs of grief, then a broken heart in there. Which is it?
