The Cherished Bond

Nitya the 32 year old married woman is now a corporate worker. Working in the office set up for 9 to 5 and managing the home also. We all know how it is difficult to get off or holiday so a weekly off of Sunday is a sigh of relief. One such day after the chores and pre decided works she thought to bring down all the photograph albums and just to see the old memories, when she had all her family members around.

The first photo was she is lying on the bed and her maa beside her. This time she was about 3 – 4 months. After that there was series of photographs reminding her of different times and phases since her birth. Some were so jovial and some are cuteness overloaded. One thing was visible that her ma really liked clicking photographs and selfies to be specific. It’s not that she doesn’t likes now but yes reduced bit with the advancing age of 60. Suddenly she came accross a photograph where her grandfather was holding her tightly in one hand and it seemed he clicked photograph with the other hand.

She remembered that day still it was one of the such days when her grandfather took her out to have the metro ride. They both used to go to visit the city a lot via metro. She learnt about metro, the station names, the escalator, the people, the parks and so many more from these short trips in which her grandfather used to take her.

Her grandfather! Ohh what a bond they shared. Being from a nuclear family set up both her parents had to work hard to meet the ends. Whatever bond she shared was with her dear grandparents. Her grandfather was the one who taught her the alphabets and mostly everything from being booksmart to being life smart. She remembered how her grandfather with shaky hands used to feed her in the afternoon hours and some of those afternoon hours her ma used to video call her during the lunch to see her whereabouts. But she always seemed absolutely overwhelmed and happy. Her grandfather was man of few words with others but when with her it was absolutely different he was so happy it always seemed he got back his life.

Her grandfather have retired about 5 years or so being out of work was really mundane that time Nitya ‘s coming in the house was something which was needed. Her grandparents was overjoyed and their happiness knew no parameters. Nitya from the infancy to growing up was in their hands and when her parents used to return it was already her sleeping time.

So many memories Now Nitya is a grown up woman and now she has a daughter. She always thinks what love and happiness she has got from her grandfather may her dad also be the same for her daughter Rumela.

A grandfather only understands the beauty of grand daughter, sometimes he expresses and sometimes not. But what matters is the ultimate bond which they shared always.
