What details of your life could you pay more attention to?
The lead of the pencil made its stride across the white sheet leaving behind a trail of what would eventually be the formation of a thought. This trail was part of a much bigger picture. The pencil continued to follow an unknown trail amidst the dust of eraser, over the light indentations of the previously drawn trails which never reached their intended destination and faded away. Sometimes it hopped, sometimes it paused but the lead of the pencil continued on and onโฆand then it came to a stop. What was wrong?
I gave a sigh which had indications of hopelessness. I couldnโt exactly put a finger on it but something was amiss in my drawing of a farmer reaping crops. I stared hard at the drawing as I let go of the pencil and my hand slowly moved towards the eraser completely unaware of the two pair of observing eyes. โWhy donโt you try giving time to one detail at a time?โ said my Art teacher, โdonโt rush it all at once, give time to each part of it before you reach the end. It is much more difficult to find where you went wrong, in a picture that your mind thinks is complete, but your heart knows it isnโt.โ
I did become better than average at drawing; I once drew a pair of hands which my art teacher put on the display board of the art room and there it remained till my last days in the school. But, what was truly important was learning that had gone into making those hands.
My life today is pretty much like the drawing I was making that day, something is amiss, but I know the drawing is not complete yet, and there is yet time to associate more time to the finer details of my life. One detail in particularโฆ
There was a time when I was an avid reader of books, something that has gone a bit out of reach in my present life. I do read articles, blogs, various short stories and poems; but reading a book day and night with thoughts regarding what was written and how it was written is a detail in life I very much miss.
It is not for the lack of trying though. It is just about finding the right amount of energy and the required amount of timeโฆ but, I know that is just an excuse, because in the end it is about giving time to one part at once instead of trying to rush it all at once.

I refrain from commenting as I am going to sound so repetitive!
Loved it so much. Your opening lines of the pencil, your art teacher’s remark and projecting it on your present state of life and something amiss there….awesome Anuran. Now I am eagerly awaiting posts of “Early Morning Memories”
