Partiality kills Dreams

When I started my college I used to teach students too and among them one pair was twins both of them used to have tuition from me..one of them was girl and another boy and reading in class 8.

Everyday they used come walking and I knew quite well their financial condition was not quite good so free tuition education what was feasible for them.

Their curiosity had no bounds, most importantly literature was something both of them loved. The boy was more inclined towards English and history and the girl was more inclined towards maths and science. It was going great with school education they were learning many other things as well..the day arrived when they were supposed to the final exam of class 8.

It was amazing both did wonderful atleast the background from which they came getting good marks was unattainable..but they did it…

I noticed that when both of them passed smoothly and was promoted class 9 but only the boy came for tuition. I was worried. Money cannot be a problem because we decided to teach for free.

I asked the boy , he said mummy said she will call you in a few day .. and he doesn’t know exactly.. I was so worried!

I was thinking should I call her parents and interrogate about the scenario? But again should I intervene their privacy… I called them that day itself after much thought.. and to my surprise her mummy picked up the call after 2 rings as if she was waiting for my call..

Her mummy said she would want to meet the next day evening and there are things that she want to speak about…

I couldn’t sleep that night.. woke up had water and again tried to sleep ..not sure what they were upto…things seem bit more complicated because the boy kept on coming never missed the tuition.

The next day her mother came to our house and explained everything in detail and at the end I was so depressed..

The point is school became a financial burden for the family. Whereas government offered free education but school uniform, some books and transportation cost needed for both . Equally.

It was not easy for them to make both of their children to school and hence they chose only the boy to go to school and have school education.. alas .. I tried to make them understand education is a basic need and both are equal in this respect.

We did it after explaining to their and my parents also spoken with them and the conclusion was we promised to give the whole educational fees of both children.

The girl attained equality in the family in respect to education with her twin brother.

She was extremely happy.

Today both of them are working in their own startup in West Bengal.

Proud.

But do you know?

Till today 47 percentage of woman faces inequality in the world. Their education gets stopped and they becomes victim of inequality.

If someone has been given a choice then why not send the girl school? And choose the boy to send school? Why?

Today in the global scenario you know we need to treat equality as an ailment to inequality.

Equality to education

Equality to career choices

Equality to work life balance

Equality to everything.

If we follow equality then only we will see balanced world, a world full of charm spirit and economic attributes!

That’s the joy when equality comes and wraps the whole world.
