Voyage

Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

An action becomes a habit when it’s done repeatedly and a habit becomes a lifestyle when we cannot seperate from that particular action at any cost.

Our family is such..the intriguing feeling to be a part of the family is a blessing and from their we learn discipline to habit and more.

Today in this storytelling session let us know the story of family and what it gifted to the newly born.

When Mukti was born her grandfather gifted her mother a jwellery box and asked her to open only when she is 18.

It was only known to Mukti’s parents and none from the family knew. For 18 long years that particular red jwellery box created a sense of worry, aspirations and pride…and everything was truly out of mere guess..as nobody knew what comprised in the box.

It indeed posed like a mystery box.

Every year on Mukti’s birthday her parents would take out the box from the almirah and look at it and knew only a certain number of years left…but alas ! They didn’t had the scope to open..as it was clearly stated only Mukti can open it. No other.

And yes the grandfather was one of best and knowledgeable man ever.. disrespecting him or not listening to him was never an option.

Slowly Mukti was 17 years age! And this day was her birthday..Her parents knew only 1 more year when they could actually open their mystery family box..

One year passed by and on the day of her birthday of 18th years.. the parents were more than excited to be able to open the box finally!

With glittering eyes and lots of aspirations .

When Mukti finally could open the mystery box! To her surprise there was letter .. letter which was handwritten.. the letter stated …

Now that you are 18 ..you know there are so many new things going to happen in personal life and career .

In life in laughter

In joy and in sorrow

Always remember to hold your roots right.

Speak in your own language and fall in love with your own country.

Here I am leaving with you my own diary and my own pen which I used to write everyday since 18 years of age.

My aspirations

My joy sorrow and excitement.

Also life events like how I met your grandmother and and till my date..

With teary eyes Mukti read the last write up which was written 2 days before the grandfather died.

This is the best gift which the grandfather had given… sharing the life experiences and stories.

It’s was sure whatever life path Mukti chooses she will always be humble..her grandfather’s diary was with her.

I think honestly we all are Mukti.

How? We carry the bond with our family through our grandparents with the help of the stories being narrated .

This is perhaps the greatest gift .

Stories.

  1. This is quite sad, but beautiful. I never knew any of my grandfathers or grandmothers as I was the youngest in our family. and my brothers and sisters were much older than me. At the moment I don’t have any brothers or sisters, they have all passed away. My mom and dad as well. I would have loved to have a letter from one of them. My eldest brother used to write songs and sing them. I do have a song he composed and which he also sings. I have it on my computer. It is very beautiful and I often listen to it. Family is very special. We must appreciate them.
