What topics do you like to discuss?

I have enjoyed playing games for a while now, an entire lifetime it seems. It began with a handheld game console which had games in black dot matrix format. It was not just about playing games, but also about talking about them with my friends; something which I thoroughly enjoyed as much as I enjoyed playing the games themselves.
In my childhood flourished a world where video streaming was yet to become a common source of infotainment; exchange of words while being physically present was much more common than it is today. Spoken words give a unique feeling of intimate engagement.
Different people have different subjects of interests in their lives, which they love to talk about with those who share similar interests and yes that is the basis of most friendships in life.
My school time passed alongside the many discussions between me and my friends about the games we played. We were not particularly good at either studies or sports, though I would entirely blame it on the lack of interest and trying.
Like many other things in life, these discussions came to an end as well. It seems more like they fell silent over the time along with most of the friendships as well. No one was to blame for it, after all the life after school was a more focussed upon building a career which was commonly associated with building a life for oneself.
If I had to describe it, in my college days I lived a life which can be considered a bit isolated. I did sometimes talk to others, engaged in discussions but it always felt that it was just not my kind of word exchange. I agreed mostly to what people said even at the cost of staying silent with my own ideas and opinions.
Then, we all need to grow up at some point of time, don’t we? So, I didn’t, yes that is correct, I did not grow over my perspectives.
What I did though was, I learnt to blend in better, assert my opinions and points in a more acceptable manner, most importantly I learnt to refuse to what I didn’t like.

I would still like to have discussions about games, even though I haven’t played one on a gaming console or a PC over a long time. But, along the way, I have learned a couple of things more and I would like to discuss them too…

  1. Hi Anuran,

You are so correct that we all grow up and things in the past no longer concern us much. Old friends get lost in time as we turn to other more important things in the lives we lead now. I’m afraid I cannot speak about playing console games. When I grew up there were no such things. We played outdoors a lot. But I am still not interested in console games even though my grown-up children still play them. I am too involved in Godly things to have time for playing games.
