The Automatic Response

Do you trust your instincts?

Instinct is one of those things which we do not have to learn, it’s just there like the rest of our natural selves with which came into this world. A response or behaviour, automatic in nature and well ingrained biologically inside us.

Me and my friends, we were the kind who weren’t the studious ones, we were more into the life that was happening out of studies. Thus, rather than through means of education our understanding of instinct came from cartoons and movies, there are just so many characters with interesting use of instincts, yes like the one swinging around using webs.

I won’t lie, at one point I did imagine I would develop a kind of special instinct, the one which would allow me to do things beyond normal. No, I did not develop any such thing but time and again I do hear about individuals who claim to have it or might actually do, I cannot say for sure because I haven’t met one to the point of judgement.

Yes, I do trust my instincts, although I feel that many times it leads me to worries I don’t need, but nonetheless I consider it an effort towards being more careful of things around.

So, what about the times after watching an effectively scary horror movie at night, when my instinct tells me there might be something waiting for me in the dark? Well, that I consider part of the experience of watching a good horror movie.

…and that’s all there is to it…

What a thoughtful reflection, Anuran! I love how you explore instinct not just as a natural guide, but also as a part of life’s playful and sometimes eerie experiences. Your writing blends insight with relatable humor beautifully.
