The Rain of Life

The rain had begun around 3 am in the morning. It was a good deal for someone who had office the next day and was aware of the rain, there were still a couple of hours of comfortable sleep.

Gargi knew when the rain began, she had heard the first drops. No, she wasn’t coincidentally awake at that. She had been wide awake since the time she had decided to sleep.

Sleep had evaded her for the third time this week. She wished there was a simple reason behind it like watching television late at night or playing games, but it was something else completely.

There are many who at a certain age of life ask themselves, whether they want to continue on the way they have been living life or whether some changes are required to live life for something more. Every new venture requires years of a sadly (but practically) limited life, and in the end all that time and effort should amount to something worth it.

She was going to do it, Gargi had decided to invite sleep back, she had decided upon cleaning the room and starting classical dance classes, something she had somewhere in the back of her mind covered by the rain of her present life.

  1. What a beautifully introspective and evocative piece 🌧️

I love how you capture Gargi’s restless mind and the quiet tension of early morning rain. The way you weave her self-reflection with her desire for change is subtle yet deeply relatable. It’s a gentle reminder that growth often begins in small, deliberate steps—even amidst life’s “rain.”

Truly a thoughtful and inspiring snippet!
