Saving the Moment

Go on a walk today and share a photo of something that catches your eye.

The prompt today is quite unique, but the walk I share here is from yesterday.

A metropolitan city can feel quite crowded at moments. When you go out for a walk, you want to have a clear mind, but it’s not what you will find on the busy roads. It is usually being aware of all the vehicles, people passing by, being aware of the sounds and noises around; occasionally carrying a grocery bag for some important requirements, due to limitation of time otherwise.

You could effectively avoid the hustle once, by heading out early or late after dinner. But it doesn’t matter now, it’s fairly crowded now, at all times. Then why not head for the park right? First because everyone has that exact idea and now there are quite a lot of people there, most of whose idea of walk has converted into leisurely movement of legs while engaging in conversations; you have no idea how many times you would have to ask them to excuse you as you try to walk past them, especially the same people, third or fourth time. Second, I like the feel of going out there on streets, on road, looking around for that hint of inspiration or that object of instigation.

Now about these special walks. I attend book launches. They are great events to come across people who also carry the fondness of indulging with words on paper or a computer screen. Some of these events happen in areas that I find quite attractive in terms of walking around and absorbing the moment, so I reach there thirty minutes ahead of time for that walk.

The one yesterday, it has a beautiful public garden nearby of historical status and everything around has followed its presence, so there are a lot of trees around and where there are a lot of trees, that is where the truly beautiful part of life is actually happening, that is my belief.

So, whether you are getting down the bus or coming out of your parked car, you are welcomed by the green, the trees around, the sound of birds, the squirrels hurrying by and the breeze that feels a little better in the otherwise poor air quality of the metropolitan.

This is one of my favourite places to take a walk along the footpath, and my hand is always itching to take out the smartphone and take a mesmerising photo or two, to look back on later and touch the feeling in the memory. I have several such photos, last year I even designed a small desk calendar with them. So, among such photos, I think the one I share here is the one I got decent enough yesterday. The photo is of a white bougainvillea, it was moving in with the breeze and had a beautiful touch of the sunlight fading in the evening.
