Reeling In

What’s a moment in your life that felt like it was straight out of a movie?

One day as I was driving home late from work. My mind was quite tired and my body was following behind on the same path. I was trying hard to avoid thinking that there was very limited time to rest, since I would have to wake up again the next day and head to work, no concession there.

Amongst the sights passing through my vision my mind highlighted the open tea stall. So, I immediately headed there and soon I was standing with a cup of tea, near the footpath and looked at the road, the few cars passing, wondering if the people driving by may also be in the same or more challenging mindframe.

A few small droplets of water touched my hand, and I noticed the marks of a few more on my shirt’s sleeve, it was going to rain. So, I took a few steps back, just enough to be under the extended cover of the tea stall. The rain arrived, heavily, pressing down upon the summer heat, forcing it to move away. I always have this feeling that rains come to recharge life back into everything.

I stood and looked at the rain fall and the vehicles passing, the lights from their headlights reflecting on the rain drops. As was and is the habit, I took out my phone and clicked a photo. It came out quite nice.

Then my imagination began to fly and I tried to think of how I myself might be looking, standing with a cup of tea, to the people driving by. That was one of the many moments with which I associated a cinematic feeling. I have enjoyed these moments right from my school days when I sat in my school bus near the window and looked out at the world passing by.

I remember them, these moments, because who knows maybe I will one day put this experience into making short videos on the stories I write in my blogs.
