Not Exactly Lost

What do you love now, that you hated when you were younger?

What does it feel to look back in life, to look at all the time that has gone by. Sitting on a couch, or in a metro train, somewhere where the mind can be free for a while, free to trace back the many images it has stored over the years and touching an image brings it to life for the duration of the stretch of remembrance.

It does happen doesn’t it, one fine day we awaken to realise we have gone through quite some years along the way. Good or bad, days of both natures have added to the many experiences that have helped us forge the idea of the world we live in, the world we see, the place that we intend to create for ourselves in this world.

As youngsters, there is still a lot not in our priority. We are quite rightly focussed upon exploring everything out there within our reach. Just the other day I came across this video of a mall slowly becoming empty with shops closing down and I recalled how it used to be my favourite even though my pockets were empty, but the company of good friends and the air conditioner was enough.

Back then the priority wasn’t to sit at one place and settle down. It was always going for the next thing then the next, friends, songs, movies, books, games, trips to hill stations and beaches, etc.

Now, things have changed a lot as they should. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing, but what was left behind was quite beautiful. The worst of it is certainly the absence of people who did their time and left the world. The best part is to realise and understand it all, step into the shoes of someone who would like to make something of this life, take care of responsibilities.

So, what I did not like before that I love now, it is certainly food. In my younger days I was very conscious of what I was eating to the point of fasting. Yes it helped me lose a lot of weight but it made me weak and then one day I fell down with a fever and it felt worse because my body just didn’t have what it took to recover at a better pace (special mention to resulting heavy hair fall). My kind and loving maternal grandmother nursed me back to health. Since then, I haven’t left food, now I love eating it and cooking it and I don’t mind my tummy showing a little after I suck out the air in if anyone is focussing upon it.
