The Better Half of Things

What’s the best way to deal with negative thoughts?

You know those mornings when you wake up, they are nothing like the extraordinary ones but they don’t show any sign of being among the least pleasant as well. You go about your ritual to start for a new day and it is exactly when you sit down to eat your breakfast and have that alone with your thoughts moment, that you suddenly realise, the head feels heavy, the expression on your face is more tense than usual, the body needs a bit of more effort to move.

You know this is going to be a hard day as you get up the chair to wash your hands before setting out to begin the working part of the day whether at home or at the office.

A good start to the day is more important than you think, you may not immediately realise it but by the end of the day you will begin to feel it. Do it for yourself and nothing else because that’s when you will actually feel the positive aspect of it. A good energetic start can produce the healthiest portion of positivity to last the day or perhaps even the next day in the form of motivation and when we remain positive, our immediate world around seems to match the rhythm, despite the challenges.

But as mentioned in the beginning, some days are tough, days when you don’t want to go ahead, and just track your steps back to bed. If not a bad start, then maybe something during the day burdens you beyond your zone of positivity and you come across an image of yourself that may not feel pleasant.

What do you do with all the negativity? Frankly everyone has their own coping mechanism, in their own vision and understanding and thus each one of us have our versions of getting out of the negativity system. Spending time with family and friends, reading a book, listening to music, watching a movie, or just going on a road trip to anywhere, etc Whatever works for you, identify that and remember that, and never think of it as anything less than what it means because that is where it would begin to lose its effect.

Personally, for me, listening to music, reading any book, writing (like now) and watching an action movie without sense since it won’t demand much focus. Yes, it may feel a little isolated, but I feel that most of the time we know from within what is truly wrong and how we need to go about it, but I will still say it out loud, you can skip all that and simply just go to the person who makes you feel better.

  1. So very relatable. Today was one of those mornings. The term of waking up on the wrong side of the bed is accurate. So I came on here and then I will move my body to activate some positive !

  2. A beautifully honest and relatable reflection. I appreciate how you acknowledge that not every day begins with the same energy, yet you gently remind us that we all have the ability to find our own path back to positivity. Your personal insights make this piece warm, authentic, and encouraging.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful perspective—it is a reminder that even difficult days can be faced with hope and self-compassion.
