Have you ever liked a villain more than the hero? Who and why?
Heroes and villains, one of the most popular existences in stories. In the real world these are but abstract terms.
Although I am yet to hear someone actually being called a villain, but I have heard people being called heroes, while some (or large) of this ‘hero’ population is PR activity or attempt at getting attention in form of views and followers, but some of them are real life heroes and they are truly incredible people who have done extraordinary work, they make you feel ‘could I ever do that’ I mean even they didn’t know they could do it, until they found the right amount of determination.
Real life villains, they have elaborate different terminologies depending upon the misdeed they commit in their lives, they go by murderers, kidnappers, burglars, fraudsters, etc, so no hint of anything good there, not even the designation of being called a villain.
However, when it comes to movies, shows and books, here for me things take different turn. Those direct or indirect labels of a ‘hero’ and ‘villain’ with a certain amount of predestined who will eventually triumph. While of course like any normal human, in my heart happiness erupts when the hero turns things around with an ace up his sleeve or any other exceptional abilities, but over the time I began to focus on the villains more and realised ‘they are much more interesting’.
It’s all in their personality traits, the way they have been written, presented, acted upon. Sometimes it is so great that you do eventually start sympathising more for the bad guy. In the present the distinct role of a hero and villain is quite blurred at different places with a rise in popularity of grey characters who don’t hesitate to cross certain lines in the name of ‘righteousness’.
In all within the boundaries of a book, movie or show, I think villains are more intriguing and I think creators and artists know that as well. In real life, I hope I don’t see any, and straight they go to the imprisoned life maybe they knew was coming or may not
