In each of the countries they celebrate Halloween in different ways. Being a Bengali and Hindu our mode of our celebration is different from western countries.

How do Western Countries celebrate Halloween?
In Western countries Halloween is on a date which is fixed 31st October as they believe in Dates much more than celestial being positions . So on 31st October the children dress like Ghosts, ghouls and witches and everything associated with Eerie and ghostly feelings and ask the adults for Trick or treat . You can choose Trick if you are ready for a prank by them then only. You are free to choose Treat if you want anything like food, chocolate from the person as treat that you won’t go for the trick .
So this is what children do but it is for adults too and in the famous halloween parties by several companies, brands and agencies they host and everyone is welcome either paid or unpaid. Here they create ghostly decorations, an ambience and everyone dresses in a ghostly way, they dance they sing and prank each other, also it is an event which has food as the part of dinner . Also this is not for everyone, if you want to decorate your house with halloween themed items you are free to do so and prepare meals for the dinner.

How do Bengalis celebrate Halloween?
It is believed in our culture that on mahalaya that is 7 days before Durga Puja our ancestors came to see us from the heavenly Abroad.
They are present till the eve of Diwali, festival of lights celebration which is after 1 month around post mahalaya.
Eve of Diwali a day is celebrated and called Bhoot Chaturdashi.
We decorate our home with diyas, candles and lights and it is believed that they mean our ancestors are travelling back to heavenly Aboad.
